According to my family history research, GW Dahlgren and Alfred Dahlgren were not brothers but cousins. Alfred Dahlgren was my great grandfather. Their fathers, respectively Mathias Ludvig and Johan Petter Dahlgren were brothers. GW was the brother of Angelina Lovisa and Amalia Augusta Mea Dahlgren, both of whom worked as photographers – actually, according to my research for longer than GW who seems mainly to have worked as a foreman in the petroleum and other industries. I have him in Tsaritsyn, nr Volgograd, Russia from 1897-1901. He was employed by Branobel as a foreman in Baku, now Azerbaijan, then part of Tsarist Russia from Jan 1906 until Oct 1910. He returned to Sweden and from 1913 was living in Nor, Värmland with his sisters and their brother Mattias Gottfrid. I believe his diaries and photographs are held by the Värmlands Archive.
Sorry, error in my last comment – my great grandfather, Alfred Dahlgren was actually the son of Per Wilhelm Dahlgren, not Johan Petter Dahlgren who was his grandfather and therefore also of Alfred’s brother, Karl Svante Dahlgren. Johan Petter was also the father of Mattias Ludvig, and grandfather of GW, Angelina Lovisa and Amalia Augusta Mea Dahlgren and is therefore the common ancestor to the siblings/cousins. Hope that makes the family connections clearer.
